The Women’s Hundred 2024 kicked off on Tuesday, July 23. This is the fourth edition of the tournament and eight teams are competing for the title.

A total of 34 matches will be played across eight venues in England and Wales. The final will be held at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Stadium in London on Sunday, August 18. The format for the tournament is Group and Knockouts.

The Southern Brave Women are the defending champions. They had a stellar season last year. They topped the league stage after winning seven games out of eight and directly qualified for the final. The Northern Superchargers booked a place in the final against the Brave Women.

It was a solid all-around display from the Southern Brave Women as they won the final by 34 runs to lift their maiden title. They had reached the final on two previous occasions but it was in the third attempt that they won the title. Anya Shrubsole led the Southern Brave Women to victory before retiring from professional cricket.

The Brave Women will lock horns against London Spirit Women in their opening game of The Women’s Hundred 2024 at The Rose Bowl in Southampton on Wednesday.

They have retained most of the players of the winning squad. The likes of Danielle Wyatt, Maia Bouchier, Freya Kemp, Smriti Mandhana, and Chloe Tryon have been retained for this edition and will play a vital role for the Brave Women.

Georgia Adams, who impressed everyone with her all-round abilities, will continue to ply her trade for the Southern Brave Women in The Hundred 2024. Lauren Cheatle, Rhianna Southby, Naomi Dattani, and Sophie Luff have a good amount of experience in the domestic circuit and will be hoping to contribute whenever an opportunity arises.

Smriti Mandhana won’t be available for the first two matches as she is on national duty. Charli Knott of Australia, who had a stellar Women’s Big Bash League for Brisbane Heat Women, will replace the Indian star.

The Southern Brave Women will start their title defense on Wednesday. They will be hoping to bring their A-game in their opening match and start their campaign on a positive note.
