Southern Brave's men's team won the first-ever edition of The Hundred in 2021. The team represents the counties of Hampshire and Sussex. In 2023, the Brave won four out of eight matches and finished in third place. They lost the eliminator to Manchester Originals.
Brave retained a total of 10 players from the last season before entering the draft. Finn Allen was the only overseas player among those 10. The other nine retained players are Jofra Archer, James Vince, Chris Jordan, Tymal Mills, Leus du Plooy, Rehan Ahmed, Craig Overton, George Garton, and Alex Davies.
At The Hundred Draft, the Brave picked four players, including Kieron Pollard and Akeal Hosein, as the overseas picks. The other two players were Laurie Evans and Danny Briggs. They also picked James Coles and Joe Weatherley from the Vitality Wildcard Draft.
Devon Conway, Tim David, Colin Ackermann, James Fuller, Mitchell Santner, Jafer Chohan, and Matthew Fischer are the players who were released by the team before entering the draft.
James Vince will lead the side once again. He has been one of the most consistent players for the team and is the leading run-scorer. Vince has amassed 556 runs in 24 innings at an average of 26.48 and a strike rate of 138.65. He is one of the eight batters who have scored over 500 runs in the tournament.
Tymal Mills, the Brave's leading wicket-taker, has also been retained by the side. He has taken 24 wickets in 19 innings at an average of 18.75, an economy of 7.36, and a strike rate of 15.29. Mills is the only bowler who has taken a four-wicket haul for the Brave and the fourth-highest wicket-taker in The Hundred.
