It’s time for the Major League Cricket (MLC). The second edition of MLC begins on Friday, July 5, in the United States of America. The tournament will end on July 28.
The USA successfully co-hosted the T20 World Cup 2024 alongside the West Indies. Fans came out in numbers and expect the same in Major League Cricket 2024, which will be played across two cities - Morrisville and Dallas.
The league stage comprises 21 matches which will be played from July 5 to July 23. The knockout stage begins on July 24 and all the playoff games will be held at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. The final of MLC 2024 will be played on July 28.
MI New York lifted the inaugural edition of MLC. They beat the Seattle Orcas in the final to lift the title. The finalists of MLC 2023 will be locking horns against each other in the opening game of the upcoming edition of MLC at Church Street Park in Morrisville.
The Seattle Orcas had a fantastic season last year. They won four games out of five in the league stages to qualify for the playoffs as table toppers. They beat the Texas Super Kings in the Qualifier to book a place in the final directly but lost to MI New York in the summit clash.
The Seattle Orcas will be hoping to go one step ahead this time and lift the title. South African pacer Wayne Parnell will continue to lead the Orcas in MLC.
The Orcas have a good mix of experienced and young players. The pace battery comprises Parnell, Lance Morris, Obed McCoy, Nandre Burger, and Nathan Ellis. Aaron Jones, Nauman Anwar, Heinrich Klaasen, and Quinton de Kock, meanwhile, form a formidable batting line-up.
Harmeet Singh, Imad Wasim, Michael Bracewell, and Shehan Jayasuriya are the team's all-rounders. The Orcas have done a good job to put up a well-balanced squad for MLC 2024 and it remains to be seen how far they go.
