The Women’s Hundred 2024 kicks off on Tuesday, July 23, in England. This will be the fourth edition of the competition and it will be played from July 23 to August 18. Eight franchise-based teams will be competing in the upcoming edition.

A total of 32 games will be played in the league stage, followed by the eliminator and the final. The final will be played at the iconic Lord’s in London on Sunday, August 18. The Southern Brave Women are the defending champions.

The opening game of the Women’s Hundred 2024 will see the Oval Invincibles Women lock horns with the Birmingham Phoenix Women. The Kennington Oval in London will play host to this exciting contest on Tuesday.

The Oval Invincibles Women failed to qualify for the knockouts in the previous edition. They managed to win only three games out of eight and lost four to finish fifth in the points table. They will be hoping to make it to the final this year.

Jonathan Batty is the head coach of the Oval Invincibles in the Women’s Hundred 2024. They have a solid batting line-up. Alice Capsey, Chamari Athapaththu, Lauren Winfield-Hill, and Marizanne Kapp have plenty of experience at the highest level and will play a key role for them.

They have a good blend of experienced and youth players. Mady Villiers, Paige Scholfield, Sophia Smale, and Amara Carr have done well in the domestic circuit and their contribution will be crucial in the Invincibles’ success this year.

Athapaththu won’t be available for the first two games due to national duties. Laura Harris will be available as Athapaththu’s replacement for the first two games. Harris is a dangerous batter and can clear the fence with ease. She will be looking to make an impact during her short stay in the competition.

Amanda-Jade Wellington will be leading the spin department along with Sophia Smale. They have put up a good squad for the Women’s Hundred 2024 and will be eager to start the tournament on a winning note on Tuesday.
