The fourth season of The Hundred League is all set to begin on Tuesday, July 23, and is set to conclude by Sunday, August 18. The 100-ball cricket tournament shall be played in eight stadiums across England. A total of 34 matches will take place with eight teams participating.

The tournament shall be based on the home and away format, where each team will play four matches at home and four matches away. This involves one match against each team in the competition and an additional match against their closest regional adversaries.

Among the eight participating teams are the Oval Invincibles, the defending champions of The Hundred 2023. They restricted Manchester Originals to 147 while defending a target of 161, therefore winning the match by 14 runs. Tom Curran’s performance was deemed as the crucial knock, with his handy score of 67 runs from 34 balls and his ability to pick up a wicket.

While the rest of the batters struggled to cross even 160 runs, Will Jacks provided them efficiently with the bat scoring 227 runs in nine innings with a strike rate of 154.42, therefore he has been retained in the squad. Nathan Sowter was the standout bowler for Oval Invincibles providing 11 wickets at an economy of 9.60.

From the preceding season, the squad has retained 11 players, complemented by the additions of Dawid Malan, Tom Lammonby, Donovan Ferreira, and Saqib Mahmood. Tash Farrant was initially included in the squad but has withdrawn due to injury.

Merchant de Lange and Mark Watt have been strategically selected through the wild card draft to enhance the squad's strength and foster competitive depth.

From the existing squad, Mohammed Amir has replaced Spencer Johnson for the first game against Birmingham Phoenix on July 23. Harrison Ward is also set to be considered in the squad with Gus Atkinson busy with his international schedule. The first match against Birmingham Phoenix shall be played on their home ground Kennington Oval, London led by Sam Billings. Oval Invincibles are a team to look forward to this season and it will be interesting to see how the players go about in their business.
