The England Cricket Board (ECB) is set to host the highly anticipated fourth edition of the Hundred Women’s, which commenced on Tuesday, July 23, and will continue until Sunday, August 18, thereby spanning nearly a month of thrilling cricket action.

This unique tournament, characterized by its innovative 100-ball format, involves eight teams vying for supremacy, with a total of 34 matches showcasing the talents of top-tier women cricketers on the national stage.

Northern Superchargers are among the eight contestants led by Hollie Armitage. They had a splendid season entering the final but eventually lost the game by 34 runs against Southern Brave, after their efforts in their third final and were bowled out for 105 runs.

Northern Superchargers won the toss and elected to bowl first but that decision backfired them when their batting unit wasn’t explosive. Jemimah Rodrigues was the top scorer with 24 runs from 14 deliveries. From the bowling perspective, Kate Cross ended with figures of 3/21. Therefore, she has regained her retention in the squads.

Phoebe Litchfield emerged as the standout batter for the Northern Superchargers in the previous season, showcasing her prowess by amassing an impressive tally of 279 runs across 10 matches, at a commendable strike rate of 132.85. Notably she was the sole batter to surpass the significant milestone of 200 runs. In contrast, team captain Hollie Armitage accumulated 167 runs from her 10 matches, highlighting Litchfield's exceptional contribution to the team's batting lineup.

Following the conclusion of the previous season, the team opted to retain a core group of nine players while strategically augmenting their roster with the acquisition of Bess Heath, Annabel Sutherland, Davina Perrin, Ella Claridhe, Sophia Turner, and Jodi Grewcock. Notably, Sophia Turner and Jodi Grewcock were specifically recruited through wild-card entries, strategically chosen to fortify the team's overall depth and competitive edge heading into the upcoming season.

They will face the Trent Rockets on Friday, July 26, in Headingley, Leeds Stadium, at 8:30 PM IST. Northern Superchargers are a team to look forward to this season and it will be interesting to see how the players go about in their business.
