Birmingham Phoenix Women will feature in the opening game of the Women's Hundred 2024.

The fourth edition of the Women’s Hundred kicks off on Tuesday, July 23. The opening game of the competition will be played between the Oval Invincibles Women and the Birmingham Phoenix Women. The Kennington Oval in London will be hosting this exciting encounter.

Eight teams will be competing in the fourth edition of the Women’s Hundred 2024. A total of 34 matches will be played across England and Wales from July 23 to August 18. The league stage comprises 32 games, followed by the eliminator and the final.

The Southern Brave Women are the defending champions. They beat the Northern Superchargers Women in the final last year to lift the title.

The Birmingham Phoenix Women had a miserable time last year. They were the wooden spoon holders. The Phoenix Women failed to win a single game in the Women’s Hundred 2023. They lost seven games out of eight in the league stages, with one being washed out due to rain. They finished at the bottom of the points table with only one point to their name.

The Birmingham Phoenix Women will be looking to put in a much-improved performance in the Women’s Hundred 2024. Ellyse Perry has been named as the captain of the Birmingham Phoenix Women for the upcoming edition of the Women’s Hundred. Ben Sawyer is the head coach.

Perry has been leading the Sydney Sixers in the Women’s Big Bash League and has a very good experience of leading a side. She can contribute in all facets of the game and will be looking to lead by example.

Perry has Sophie Devine for company who is also an experienced campaigner. Both have played for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru together and played a crucial role in them lifting the Women’s Premier League (WPL) title this year. They will be looking to do the same for the Phoenix franchise.

Richa Ghosh will join the squad after completing her national duties. Till then, Suzie Bates is available as an overseas replacement for the first three games. Issy Wong and Amy Jones are the other experienced players in the side and will be looking to step up for the Birmingham-based franchise.

After a disappointing season last year, the Birmingham Phoenix Women will be looking to step up and make their fans proud. Their first aim this year will be to make it to the knockouts and will be hoping to start their campaign with a win against the Oval Invincibles on Tuesday.
