With the iconic Eden Gardens to host the second Test of the India-New Zealand series, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) is set to organise a special ‘talk show’ on the country’s Test journey. The match in Kolkata will be India’s 501st Test, for which the BCCI has already made arrangements to make it special at the Green Park in Kanpur. Apart from the proposed talk show, the CAB is also making efforts to add flavour during the 5-day match.

As per the reports of Sportsar, former Indian skipper and current President of CAB, Sourav Ganguly said, “We will put up a special canopy to organise an exhibition featuring photographs of some prominent players the country has produced over the years. A talk show will also be organised in which Sunil Gavaskar and Anil Kumble will take part. It will be held on the first day of the match.”

India recently returned from a four-Test tour in the Caribbean and defeated the West Indies 2-0. This was followed by a two-match T20 series in the United States of America against the same opponents. With a busy home season ahead, the Virat Kohli-led Indian team would be eager to make a good start to the series.

The CAB has been known for making special arrangements ahead of memorable matches, as was seen during the ICC World T20 earlier this year. It also organised a match between India and Pakistan on the occasion of its 75-year celebrations back in 2004.

Tough challenges await Kohli

The upcoming home season will be a big challenge for captain Virat Kohli and also coach Anil Kumble who was appointed just before the West Indies tour. It was a relatively easy task to tackle the inexperienced Caribbean side but with big teams such as New Zealand, England and Australia visiting the sub-continent, it will require something special to dominate them.

It was earlier expected that the third Test was to be staged at the Eden Gardens, but ‘Durga Puja’ clashed with the match and the BCCI rescheduled the fixture. The team from down-under will also be a part of a 5-match ODI series against the hosts which will get underway after the third Test concludes.
