Bhuvneshwar Kumar: We know what we need to do on this wicket

Indian right-arm seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who scored his maiden Test half-century to put India in a comfortable position on the 2nd day, called the Trent Bridge pitch for the ongoing first Test as “more Indian”. The swing bower added that the Indians have a better knowledge of the pitch, owing to their experience of having played first class cricket on these kind of tracks.

"We cannot do much about the pitch except be patient. We need to keep bowling wicket to wicket as it is more like an Indian pitch. We have enough experience of playing at home so we know what we need to do," Bhuvneshwar said during the post match conference at the end of the second day's play.

The Uttar Pradesh seamer along with Mohammed Shami added a determined 111 to help the visitors reach 457, before coming on to bowl 4 overs with the new ball later in the day. "The pitch might not change too much but it might take some turn later on. We are confident of bowling England out and because we have to do that in order to win this match," said the 23-year-old seamer who is playing in his 7th Test match.

The bowler who revealed that he sees himself as an all-rounder after the day’s play, came in defence of his English counterparts who were criticized for allowing the last pair to settle in and stitch the second highest partnership of the match.

"I don't think England bowled badly. They put enough pressure on us, tried different things and set up different fielding positions. It is the pitch, you need to do different things when it behaves like this.

"If last wicket yields a 100-run partnership then the bowlers will get tired and frustrated. So they were doing their bit and we were doing ours," mentioned Bhuvneshwar, who averages nearly 30 runs with the bat in first class cricket including a century and 11 half centuries.
