Pakistan’s fiery pacer Wahab Riaz and talismanic leg-spinner Yasir Shah got into a scuffle during the team’s training session at the Gabba on Wednesday ahead of the first Test versus Australia which starts on Thursday.

Reportedly the two had a heated exchange on the field while playing football and there were some pushing and shoving involved.

Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur and some other players rushed to the situation and calmed things down between the two players.

As a result of the fight, there was a tensed situation in the Pakistan camp where the team management held a meeting to review the incident.

The chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shahryar Khan said the players had apologised for the scuffle stating it was in the heat of the moment and that such fights were not a big issue.

But the fight had taken the Pakistan media by storm and a few minutes back Yasir tweeted a picture of himself and Riaz to calm things down.

The incident was uncalled for and may hamper the preparations of the visitors who under the able leadership of Misbah-ul-Haq are looking to create history in Australia.

If they win the series, they will it after 11 tours Down Under. So far, no other team from the subcontinent has won a Test series in Australia.

Wahab Riaz had already spoken about how he would like to target Australia’s most dangerous batting pair of David Warner and Steve Smith in tomorrow’s opening day-night Test in Brisbane.

"Obviously I have to do what I do really well, I am going to bowl aggressively, I will bowl short as well," said Wahab, who has taken 65 wickets in his 21 Tests since debuting in 2010.

"You have to attack David Warner and Steve Smith. You cannot look for them to give you their wicket. You have to buy their wickets."

Yasir Shah has returned from injury and will be a key to success for the tourists as he has the ability to take wickets on any kind of surface.

The Gabba surface will assist him too as it has bounce and a little bit of turn. If Pakistan needs to win the series they need both Riaz and Yasir to fire together. Now, that can only happen if they settle all off-the-field differences.
