England have roared back in the ongoing T20 World Cup as they dispatched Oman in a key group-stage match. This match at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua lasted for 99 balls as England chased down 47 runs in just 19 deliveries. This saw a major bump in their net run rate, bolstering their chances of making it to the Super Eight.
It has taken England just a single match to zoom past Scotland's NRR. Now England would want Australia to beat Scotland and become the second team from this group to make it through to the Super Eight stage.

#5 Australia beat Bangladesh - 82 balls to spare, 2021
Back in the 2021 T20 World Cup, Australia trounced Bangladesh and boosted their chances of qualifying for the semi-finals with an eight-wicket win in Dubai. Opting to bowl first, Bangladesh were bowled out for a mere 73, and Australia then raced past the target in just 6.2 overs.
Aaron Finch scored 40, David Warner chipped in with 18 runs, and Mitchell Marsh sealed the victory with a six, finishing the match with 82 balls to spare. Adam Zampa was the star with the ball as he registered a career-best with figures of five for 19.
Bangladesh were rocked early as Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood took advantage of conditions by picking up two wickets each.
#4 Ireland beat Nigeria - 83 balls to spare, 2019
Craig Young was the star with the ball as his career-best figures of four for 13, along with Mark Adair's two for 10, put Ireland in the playoffs in the T20 World Cup qualifiers back in 2019. Ireland first restricted Nigeria to 66 for nine and then mopped up the target in just 6.1 overs for an eight-wicket victory in Abu Dhabi.
This was their fastest T20 chase to date and this put Ireland with a chance of topping their group. Kevin O’Brien was the star in the chase as he raced to 32 off 17 deliveries and put Ireland right ahead in the first few overs.
#3 Australia beat Namibia - 86 balls to spare, 2024
Australia secured their spot in the Super Eight of the ongoing T20 World Cup with a nine-wicket victory over Namibia on Wednesday, June 12, at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.
Australia were chasing a target of 73 runs as Travis Head (34 off 17), David Warner (20 off eight), and Mitchell Marsh (18 off nine) aggressively completed the chase in just 5.4 overs - two balls before the conclusion of the powerplay.
Namibia were asked to bat first as captain Gerhard Erasmus was one of only two batters to reach double figures - even as the team were knocked out for 72 runs.
Namibia struggled from the start as they lost half their side for just 21 runs. Australia’s captain Mitchell Marsh won a vital toss and bowled first. Adam Zampa starred with the ball as he picked up four wickets for just 12 runs and bagged the Player of the Match award.
#2 Sri Lanka beat Netherlands - 90 balls to spare, 2014
Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first in this T20 World Cup 2014 game and the Netherlands were never allowed to get away. They were dismantled even before they could blink as they were reduced to nine for four in the powerplay.
The Netherlands could last for only 10.3 overs as just four bowlers were used. Angelo Mathews picked up three wickets, while Nuwan Kulasekara picked up one and Lasith Malinga chipped in with a couple.
Sri Lanka then chased this total in five overs with nine wickets to spare and it was the quickest run chase by a Test-playing nation at the time. Angelo Mathews was declared Player of the Match for his three-wicket spell.
#1 England beat Oman - 99 balls to spare, 2024
A determined England made a smashing comeback in the ongoing T20 World Cup as they crushed Oman, wrapping up the match inside 20 overs. England's bowlers led the charge as they bowled out Oman for just 47 in 13.2 overs and then chased down the total in only 19 balls.
Batting first, Oman struggled as Jofra Archer and Mark Wood wreaked havoc in the powerplay, leaving Oman reeling at 25/4. England never looked back and Adil Rashid took care of the lower order. Phil Salt laid the marker in the chase as he smashed two sixes off the first two balls England raced to the target even before Oman could get their fielding tactics in place.
