It rained sixes and fours at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad as opener Sanju Samson and captain Suryakumar Yadav led an exhibition of strokeplay in the third T20I between India and Bangladesh on Saturday, October 12.

The duo lit up a dead rubber contest as India plundered 297-6 after opting to bat first. While Samson registered his maiden T20I ton en route a 47-ball 111, Suryakumar butchered 75 off 35. Hardik Pandya (47 off 18) and Riyan Parag (34 off 13) took over in the last part of the innings as India created milestones and records galore.

Following an exhilarating batting display, let's take a look at five milestones achieved by India in the third T20I against Bangladesh.

#1 Sanju Samson records the second fastest hundred by an Indian in T20Is

It was delightful carnage on display with Samson making the most of his opportunity in Hyderabad. Having failed to register a big score in the first two matches of the series, he put on an exhibition of strokeplay that included four consecutive boundaries off the second over by Taskin Ahmed and five successive sixes off a Rishad Hossain over.

The shot of the innings, though, was a back foot loft over extra cover that soared the distance as Mustafizur Rahman was left wondering what even went wrong with that delivery. Samson's majestic strokeplay saw him record the second fastest hundred by an Indian in T20Is off just 40 deliveries as he overtook Suryakumar (45-ball ton against Sri Lanka last year).

The record for the fastest T20I century by an Indian, though, remains with former captain Rohit Sharma, who blazed away to a 35-ball hundred against Sri Lanka in 2017.

#2 Suryakumar Yadav becomes the second fastest Indian to 2500 T20I runs

It goes without saying that Suryakumar rules T20 batting like no other. The Indian captain added yet another feather to his cap en route his 35-ball 75 in the third T20I against Bangladesh on Saturday.

Suryakumar got to the landmark of 2500 runs in T20Is in his 71st innings, becoming the second fastest Indian to do so, behind Virat Kohli, who got there in 68 innings. and is the third fastest overall.

The overall record rests with Pakistan's Babar Azam, who needed 62 innings to record 2500 runs in T20Is. His fellow countryman Mohammad Rizwan is second, having taken 65 innings.

#3 India record the second-fastest 200 by a team in T20Is

One of the shots of the Indian innings in the third T20i was a bottom-handed carve over extra cover by Pandya off Tanzim Hasan Sakib. The ball sailed the distance for a maximum and also brought up India's 200 midway through the 15th over.

In doing so, India recorded the second fastest 200 by a team in T20Is. Their effort, which took just 14.3 overs, has been bettered only by South Africa, with the Proteas taking 13.5 overs to get there against the West Indies in 2023 - where they successfully chased down 259 in a record chase.

#4 India score the joint highest number of sixes in a T20I by a full member team (22)

With 22 maximums, India equalled the record for the most sixes by a full member nation in a T20I. Afghanistan recorded the same number against Ireland in 2019, as did the West Indies in the aforementioned match against South Africa in Centurion.

Taking Associate nations into account, the overall record stands with Nepal (26), followed by Japan (23), with India's joint effort coming third. While Samson clubbed eight maximums, Suryakumar scored five, before Pandya and Parag whipped up four sixes apiece.

Rinku Singh added one of his own off the last ball of the innings, summing up a marauding batting onslaught.

#5 India post the highest team total by a full member nation in T20Is

The most noteworthy milestone India achieved was a world record for a full member nation as they registered the highest team total in T20Is on Saturday.

India's total of 297-6 comfortably pipped Afghanistan's 278-3 against Ireland at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun in 2019. It marked the second highest total overall in men's T20Is as India nearly became the second team to breach the 300-run mark in the format.

Despite their record coming under serious threat, Nepal continue to hold the highest team total in men's T20Is, having plundered Mongolia for 314-3 at the Asian Games in Hangzhou last year.
