Brandon McMullen was in smashing form in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Scotland's performances in the T20 World Cup 2024 impressed one and all. The Scots ran Australia close during the tournament and batted well against England. While the match against England did not yield a result due to rain, Scotland failed to seize the initiative both with the bat and the ball against Australia which led to their elimination from the tournament.

A few Scottish players made their performances count on the big stage. Surely, the said performances would have been noticed by various Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises.

On that note, here is a look at three Scotland players who deserve an IPL contract after the T20 World Cup 2024.

#1 Brandon McMullen

Brandon McMullen had an astounding strike rate of 170.73 in the T20 World Cup 2024.
Brandon McMullen had an astounding strike rate of 170.73 in the T20 World Cup 2024.

The 24-year-old batter had a breakthrough tournament. In three innings, he scored 140 runs at an astounding strike rate of 170.73. He averaged above 70 with the bat.

McMullen batted at number three in the tournament and scored two half-centuries. He had a strike rate of 196.77 against Oman and 176.47 against Australia.

His innings of 60 from 34 balls against Australia included two boundaries and six maximums. The fact that the youngster took on the Aussie bowlers from the outset reflected that he is ready to challenge the best bowling attacks in the world.

Overall, in 12 T20I innings, he has scored four half-centuries and has a strike rate above 152.

McMullen could be on the radar of a few teams in the IPL 2025 auctions and his ability to bat and strike the ball clean could earn him his maiden IPL contract.

#2 Brad Wheal

Wheal dismissed David Warner in the group encounter against Australia.

Wheal was one of the bright spots for Scotland with the ball in the T20 World Cup 2024. He bowled 11.4 overs in the three innings and picked up five wickets at an average of 16. His economy rate of 6.85 was one of the highlights for Scotland.

The 27-year-old picked up three wickets against Namibia and a scalp apiece against Oman and Australia. The wicket of David Warner was his prized scalp in the tournament.

Wheal bowled well with the new ball and troubled the Aussie batters during his first spell. In 21 T20Is, he has an economy rate of less than eight which is impressive because he bowls most of his overs in the powerplay and at the death.

Fast bowlers are always in demand during IPL auctions and Wheal probably could find himself playing in IPL 2025.

#3 George Munsey

The opener got off to a flying start in three of the four matches in the T20 World Cup 2024. In Scotland's first encounter against England, Munsey took on an experienced English bowling attack comprising Mark Wood, Jofra Archer, Chris Jordan, Moeen Ali, and Adil Rashid and scored an unbeaten 41 from 31 balls.

He followed it up with another innings of 41 against Oman at a strike rate of 205. He impressed against Australia too and scored 35 runs at a strike rate of 152.17.

Overall, Munsey scored 124 runs from four innings at an average of 41.33 and a strike rate of 139.32 and is currently the sixth-highest run-getter in the tournament.

Aggressive openers who can take advantage in powerplay overs are always welcome in the shortest format and Munsey could land himself with a contract in the IPL following his impressive performances in IPL 2024.
