There is no dearth of T20 leagues in today's day and age of cricket. Currently, two T20 leagues are being played in different parts of the world. While the Lanka Premier League is being played in the island nation, the Major League Cricket (MLC) is being played in the USA. In its second edition, the MLC is gaining popularity in the USA and is being followed by cricket fans worldwide.
Post completion of the MLC, the 12th edition of the Caribbean League (CPL) will commence on August 30, 2024.
MI New York (MNY) in the MLC and Trinidad Knight Riders (TKR) in the CPL have a few superstar cricketers who have made a name for themselves in the shortest format and have won many matches for their respective teams/ franchises.
On that note, here is a look at three players who are currently representing MNY in MLC 2024 and will play for TKR in CPL 2024
#1 Kieron Pollard
The former West Indies captain in limited-overs cricket has an impressive record in the CPL. He is the fourth-highest run-getter in the history of the CPL.
In 103 innings with the bat in 114 matches, Pollard has scored 2574 runs at an astounding strike rate of 149.39. In addition, he has picked up 56 wickets in the CPL and has an impressive economy rate of 7.87.
The 37-year-old has been an integral part of the TKR franchise since 2019. He will captain the team in CPL 2024.
Pollard is currently captaining MNY in the ongoing edition of the MLC and has failed to get going. In five innings, he has scored just 24 runs at a dismal average of six and a below-par strike rate of 48.97. He has picked up four wickets in MLC 2024.
TKR will be hopeful that their skipper gets back to scoring runs as he is an indispensable part of their middle-order batting.
#2 Tim David
Tim David too has been struggling for form in MLC 2024. In three matches playing for MNY, the batter has scored just 27 runs at an average of nine and a strike rate of 72.97.
David is essentially a finisher and an asset for any team, especially in the death overs. He has been impressive in T20Is having a strike rate of 162.75 in 41 innings.
The presence of David will strengthen the TKR batting lineup that already comprises Kieron Pollard, Nicholas Pooran and Jason Roy.
To date, David has played only 17 matches in the CPL and is yet to make an impact in the league.
#3 Nicholas Pooran
The keeper-batter is one of the best when it comes to the shortest format. Pooran has been in good batting form for MNY in MLC 2024 and has scored 137 runs in five innings.
The 29-year-old has an impressive record in the CPL, scoring 1943 runs in 92 innings with the bat. He has an impressive strike rate of 148.32 in the CPL. He was the fourth-highest run-getter in CPL 2023 (291) and had an astounding strike rate of 155.61.
Pooran will be a vital part of the TKR batting lineup in CPL 2024.
