Auburn vs. Oklahoma: Head-to-Head

So far, Auburn and Oklahoma have met each other twice, and in both games, the Sooners have managed a victory. The rivalry started when these two teams first met in January 1972 at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, Louisiana. In that game, the Sooners had a decisive 40-22 victory over the Tigers.

Their second and most recent matchup took place at the 2017 Allstate Sugar Bowl. Oklahoma, led by current Tampa Bay Buccaneers star quarterback Baker Mayfield, secured a 35-19 victory over the Tigers. In that game, Mayfield completed 19 of 28 passes for 296 yards and two touchdowns.

Auburn, on the other hand, cycled through four quarterbacks: Jeremy Johnson, Sean White, John Franklin III and Kerryon Johnson. But the Tigers couldn’t match Mayfield's Sooners that day.

Mayfield was flawless that season, leading Oklahoma to an 11-2 record. Following that season, he was selected No. 1 overall in the 2018 NFL draft by the Cleveland Browns.
