Coach Lane Kiffin's Ole Miss Rebels suffered a damaging 20-17 home loss to the Kentucky Wildcats during Week 5 of college football action.

The preseason favorites are still in the picture for a college football playoff appearance but the Rebels will definitely see a plunge in their AP Poll rankings this coming week.

Off the gridiron, the charismatic Rebels coach has become a cult figure in Oxford, and he has capitalized on his popularity to come up with witty catchphrases. The most popular one is 'Come to the Sip', which has been used as a recruiting tool by Kiffin.

It is a clarion call for recruits to join Ole Miss (Mississippi). It has become so widespread that Lane Kiffin started to wear it on T-shirts and hoodies. The phrase first became popular after Kiffin wore it on a hoodie during the 2022 Sugar Bowl clash against the Baylor Bears.

Other catchphrases used by Lane Kiffin include 'Drip in the Sip', and 'Party in the Sip'. The Ole Miss Rebels even painted the slogan on the end zones of the Vaught-Hemingway Stadium for the game against the Kentucky Wildcats, which ended in agonizing defeat.

The 'Sip' has also been used by Ole Miss Rebels' big in-state rivals, the Mississippi State Bulldogs, but as an acronym. They use it to mean 'Starkville is a Problem', and by taking it away, Kiffin is taking a jab at the Bulldogs.

Lane Kiffin uses catchphrases to lure recruits

Lane Kiffin once again used his recruitment chops when four-star prospect Ladarian Clardy visited Oxford on Friday. He posed as an Uber driver and chauffeured Clardy around campus, which the prospect posted on X.

In the clip, Kiffin once again used the 'Come to the Sip' catchphrase to try and convince Clardy to join the Rebels.

"I can take you anywhere you want to go as long as you come to the Sip," Kiffin told Clardy.

Ladarian Clardy is the No. 17 safety in the class of 2025, according to On3.

It was a homecoming weekend for Ole Miss with several recruits on campus for official visits. It could not have come at a worse time for the coach as the prospects witnessed the Rebels' limp defeat to the Kentucky Wildcats.

Lane Kiffin will undoubtedly continue to recruit prospects at a prodigious level. But after being linked to the Florida Gators job currently held by embattled coach Billy Napier, the prospects could be headed to the swamp instead of the Sip.
