Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry has an important 2024 season ahead. Pry is entering his third year in charge of the Hokies, having posted a 10-14 record across two seasons.

Last season, Virginia Tech finished with a 7-6 record and beat Tulane in the Military Bowl game. Now, Pry must be certain that his starting quarterback can deliver the goods in 2024, as the Hokies will aim for further progress this year.

As things stand, Kyron Drones appears to be the QB1 at Virginia Tech for the 2024 season. The signal-caller was also present at ACC Media Day 1 on Monday.

When asked about his expectations for the upcoming season, Drones said:

"I'm really excited. I'm just ready to go out there and give each and every one of them the ball, go out there and let them make plays. That's what they're here for, what they came here to do. I'm ready to go out there this season and be one of the top offenses in the country."

Virginia Tech coach Brent Pry named Drones as the team's starting quarterback ahead of the 2023 season, when the player transferred from Baylor. The signal-caller redshirted his freshman year and played one year with the Bears before committing to the Hokies.

Drones finished his first season at Virginia Tech with 2,085 throwing yards and 17 touchdowns on 166 passes. He also gained 818 rushing yards and five touchdowns on the ground in 13 games. He was chosen as the MVP of the Military Bowl.

Drones has done enough to cement his place as Virginia Tech's starting quarterback in 2024. The player will further look to improve his numbers to boost his draft stock in the upcoming season.

Pry also has some talented options in his quarterback ranks as backups to Drones. The likes of Pop Watson, Dylan Wittke and Ben Locklear will be waiting to show their worth if and when the opportunity comes knocking.
