The Villanova Wildcats will be heading down to SECU Stadium on Saturday afternoon to take on the Maryland Terrapins in nonconference action in Week 4. These teams have started the season playing well and this should be a great game between teams that look like topping their respective conferences.

The Wildcats (3-0) are coming off a nailbiting 14-13 home win last Saturday against the Towson Tigers. Senior quarterback Connor Watkins led the way as he finished 14-of-25 for 116 yards with a pair of passing touchdowns, as well as running the ball 13 times for 65 yards (5.0 yards per attempt).

The Terrapins (2-1) are also showcasing their abilities and secured a 27-13 road win over the Virginia Cavaliers last Saturday. Junior quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. went 28-of-43 for 263 passing yards with a pair of touchdowns through the air as well as nine rushing attempts for 12 yards (1.3 yards per carry) and a rushing touchdown.

Villanova vs. Maryland prediction

There is a clear difference between the Villanova Wildcats and the Maryland Terrapins and that will be exposed in this game. Villanova has not faced a Power Five conference program yet this season and the adjustment to that is going to cause them to struggle in this game.

The Terrapins have an outstanding quarterback in Billy Edwards Jr., who has a 6-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio, while having an incredible connection with wide receiver Tai Felton. Those two should be able to connect and score within the first offensive drive of the game for Maryland's offense.

The Wildcats are going to be able to score some points as quarterback Conner Watkins has also been able to do well and limit mistakes. His only issue is completing just 54.3% of his passes heading into this game. Villanova runs the ball well, so they should see extended drives throughout the game and put up points.

Maryland has won 14 consecutive nonconference games so expect them to continue their streak by dominating against Villanova here.
