The USC Trojans are on the road to play the Maryland Terrapins on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET. The game can be seen on FS1.
USC (3-3, 1-3 Big Ten) is coming off a 33-30 home loss to Penn State on Saturday, while Maryland (3-3, 0-3 Big Ten) is coming off a 37-10 home loss to Northwestern.
USC vs Maryland: Preview
USC is a seven-point favorite to defeat Maryland on Saturday. The over/under is set at 57 points.
USC blew a lead to Penn State and lost in OT and have now lost back-to-back games. The Trojans now have to go on the road and go multiple time zones over which has been an issue for teams.
Trojans coach Lincoln Riley says the team is adjusting their travel plans to adjust to the timezone.
“We’re going to adjust just a little bit because this is obviously the longest flight that we have,” Riley said (per Sports Illustrated). “We’re going to do a little more here on early Friday morning compared to what we’ve done on some of the few other trips and then just get out to Maryland and have a little bit less time there."
"Some of that is just a response to the flight time and just some of the feedback from the guys and from the staff after being in a couple of these situations. Nothing earth shattering, but shifting a few things around.”
USC has been led by Miller Moss, who has thrown for 1,618 yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions. Woody Marks has rushed for 579 yards and four touchdowns.
Defensively, the Trojans are led by Eric Genty, who has two sacks, while Easton Mascarenas-Arnold leads the team with 49 tackles and two interceptions.
Maryland, meanwhile, is coming off a disappointing loss to Northwestern and coach Mike Locksley says stopping Miller Moss will be difficult.
“Miller, they put a lot on him. If you watch the tape of him at the line of scrimmage, making a lot of decisions,” Locksley said, via SI. “They haven’t played with pace, though we know they have the ability to. And I think a lot of that is the utilization of the coach to player comm system. You know, they got till the fifteen-second mark to see where you’re lined up and Miller is doing a lot of it at the line of scrimmage.”
Maryland is led by quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. who has thrown for 1,740 yards, 11 touchdowns and 3 interceptions while Tai Felton has led the way with 719 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
Defensively, the Terrapins are led by Glendon Miller, who has four interceptions, Caleb Wheatland has three sacks, and Ruben Hyppolite II leads the team with 26 tackles.
The Terrapins' defense has been an issue this season and despite the time change, USC should be able to score plenty and get a much-needed win on the road.
