Troy is a 12-point underdog while the over/under is set at 56.5 points.

The Trojans have struggled this season as they have lost two straight games and are set for back-to-back road games.

The Trojans trailed Texas State 14-0 after the first quarter and couldn't catch up. After the game, Troy coach Gerad Parker shared his disappointment with the result.

"I'm very, very disappointed for our staff and players," Parker said via the team's website. "In preparation for this short week, I thought our guys battled and got back after an emotional loss last week. Clearly, we just weren't ready to come out of the locker room and do what it takes to be a good football team."
"We challenged our staff and players the whole week to know you have to win turnover margin and make plays to beat an opponent like that."

Parker added that the lack of discipline ultimately falls on him as he said he needs to put the program in a better spot to win.

"Unfortunately, there were some untimely penalties and ball security issues that cost us and put us down early. I'm proud of our effort in the second half, but clearly we're not getting the thing done to play winning football, and that falls directly on me.
"It's very difficult and something that I'll take a picture of mentally to understand what it takes to fight and put this program in a position to win."

The Trojans have been led by running back Damien Taylor who has rushed for 399 yards and two touchdowns as well as receiver Devonte Ross who has 555 yards and seven touchdowns. Defensively, Jordan Stringer leads the team with 42 tackles.

Meanwhile, South Alabama has lost back-to-back games but Jaguars coach Major Applewhite is eager for this rivalry matchup.

"It is different, and it means a lot to people in this part of the country," Applewhite said via the team's website. "It means a lot to our university and their university, so I want them to understand it is different."

The Jaguars offensively have been led by quarterback Gio Lopez who has thrown for 1,308 yards, 12 touchdowns and an interception while Fluff Bothwell has rushed for 406 yards and six touchdowns.

Defensively, they are led by Jaden Voisin who has two picks and Blayne Myrick with 50 tackles.

Ultimately, South Alabama is the better football team on both sides of the ball and Troy's defense will likely struggle against its opponent's offense.

Prediction: South Alabama 34, Troy 17
