A few top wide receivers (WRs) are entering the NCAA transfer portal after the season. There are various programs available for these receivers. Here are some of the top WRs in the 2023 transfer portal.
Top WRs in 2023 transfer portal
Kris Mitchell (Committed to Notre Dame)
Florida International Panthers' Kris Mitchell is one of the top WRs declared for the transfer portal. He has one season of eligibility remaining. This WR can help a quarterback get exposure with a threat out wide. Mitchell finished with 64 catches for 1,118 yards (17.5 yards per reception) for seven touchdowns this season. One landing spot that makes sense would be the South Florida Bulls. Mitchell was recruited by them earlier in his career and is from Florida.
Eric McAlister
The Boise State Broncos are losing one of their top WRs, sophomore Eric McAlister. He has produced 47 catches for 873 yards (18.6 yards per reception) with five touchdown receptions. As a sophomore, he has three more years of eligibility if he is a fifth-year senior. One spot that would make sense for McAlister would be the UConn Huskies, as he can get impressive numbers for them.
Raymond Cottrell
After his freshman season with the Texas A&M Aggies, freshman WR Raymond Cottrell made an announcement. He said he is entering the transfer portal with three years of eligibility remaining. He only posted one catch for 13 yards during the season. One landing spot for this WR is the Texas Longhorns. He could aid the team, practice with Quinn Ewers or Arch Manning and stay in the SEC next season.
Chris Tyree (Committed to Virginia)
Senior WR Chris Tyree is transferring from Notre Dame. With a year's eligibility remaining, he is probably the best WR available. Last season, he finished with 26 catches for 484 yards (18.6 yards per reception) for three touchdowns. One potential landing spot for Tyree can be the Texas Longhorns. He could replace the production of WR Xavier Worthy if he decides to enter the 2024 NFL draft class.
Donaven McCulley
Junior WR Donaven McCulley has played very well this season. However, he announced he would enter the NCAA Transfer Portal and leave the Indiana Hoosiers. McCulley finished with 48 catches for 644 yards (13.4 yards per reception) with six touchdown receptions. He could go to the Michigan State Spartans as they prepare for their push in the Big Ten with coach Jonathan Smith at the helm.
Juice Wells (Committed to Ole Miss)
One of the highest rated wide receivers in college football, Juice Wells entered the portal for his last year of college football. The four-star recruit was South Carolina's go-to man on offense catching for 928 yards in the 2022 season, before unfortunately missing much of 2023 through because of injuries.

Will Sheppard (Committed to Colorado)
Another four-star recruit from the 2020 class, Sheppard played for the Vanderbilt Commodores for four seasons, before entering the transfer portal. He has 2,067 receiving yards, and 21 touchdowns to his name.
London Humphreys (Committed to Georgia)
Another wide receiver from Vanderbilt, Humphreys decided to enter the portal after just one season with the Commodores. Humphreys has since committed to Georgia. A former four-star recruit from the 2023 recruiting class, Humphreys will be an important addition to the Bulldogs team that has lost key pieces to the portal.
Julian Fleming
Fleming entered the transfer portal after seeing limited playing time in his three seasons with OSU, catching just 26 passes for 270 yards this season. The receiver was behind Emeka Egbuka and Marvin Harrison Jr. on the depth charts, and will now look for a time where he can have a better impact.
Josh Kelly
Kelly entered the transfer portal after just one year with the Washington State Cougars. However, the receiver is expected to have multiple offers after a successful season in Pullman where he caught for 923 yards, and eight touchdowns.
Mario Williams
After posting career-highs across the board, Williams' production declined once again in the 2023 season, as the wide receiver put up 305 yards, and two touchdowns on 29 receptions. Williams will have another year of eligibility left with his new team.
Caullin Lacy
The 6th best receiver in the country ranked by receiving yards, Lacy crossed the 1000-yard mark for South Alabama, totaling 1316 yards, and seven touchdowns on 91 receptions. The third-year WR will now make the switch to a P5 conference, and will play for the Louisville Cardinals.
Lajohntay Wester
Another top receiver who formerly played for Florida Atlantic, Wester had a spectacular season in 2023, putting up 1168 receiving yards, and eight touchdowns on 108 receptions. Wester ranked 2nd behind Malik Washington in total receptions this season.

Kelly Akharaiyi
Coming from the NJCAA level of college football, Akharaiyi made a name for himself in his two years at UTEP. The wideout caught for 1033 yards, and seven touchdowns on just 48 receptions this season in an offense that struggled throughout the year. Akharaiyi entered the transfer portal at the end of the season.
