The call must have been a difficult one to bear for Virginia Tech:

For some college football fans, the Miami vs Hokies showdown was not the only highlight.

It was definitely a nail-biting moment during the review of the hail-mary touchdown controversy by the Hokies.

It was a hard pill to swallow for the Hokies fanbase.

After the game, the ACC released a statement where they explained the factors that led to the decision being ruled in favor of Mario Cristobal's team.

According to their statement, the loose ball got into contact with a Miami player while being out of bounds. That led to the pass being deemed incomplete, resulting in the hail-mary being overruled.

"During the review process of the last play of the Virginia Tech at Miami game, it was determined that the loose ball was touched by a Miami player while out of bounds, which makes it an incomplete pass and immediately ends the play."

With the victory, the Hurricanes have put up a five-game winning streak. QB Cam Ward once again proved to be a great asset on offense, recording a total of 343 passing yards and four TD passes against the Hokies.

Virginia Tech coach Brent Pry disappointed with outcome of week 5 showdown against Miami

In the post-game press conference, Brent Pry expressed his disappointment with how the game ended. He said that while it was a tough pill to swallow, he was proud of his team for their resilient effort until the last second of the game.

"That's a tough one, right there," Pry said. "The way the game ended, I hope they got that call right. To take that, to overturn it, take it from our kids, our coaches, our fans, I hope they got it right.
"I'm very proud of our team and our coaches. We're much closed to the team that we need to be week in and week out."

With the defeat, Virginia Tech is 2-3 in five games. They next face Stanford on Oct. 5. Can Pry and his team snap their losing streak against the Cardinal?
