With the opening of Week 6, college football's top cornerbacks will be busy. Passing games continue to thrive and receivers get better and better. But cornerbacks have to somehow keep up.

Here's a closer look at 10 cornerbacks to watch out for in Week 6 action.

#10. Amarion Fortenberry, South Alabama

A freshman, Fortenberry has been a surprising contributor for the Jaguars. The 5-foot-11 corner has 25 tackles and has broken up seven passes, including an interception. Fortenberry and USA are playing at Arkansas State this weekend and are certainly worth a look.

#9. Michael Coats Jr., Nevada

The 5-foot-10 Coats was a JUCO product. He played sparingly in 2023 but has become a standout in 2024. Coats has registered a dozen tackles but he also has broken up seven passes, one of those being an interception. Nevada plays at San Jose State, which has a potent passing game to challenge Coats.

#8. Charles Brantley, Michigan State

The 6-foot junior has had a productive season. He made 14 tackles and broke up seven passes. Two of the break-ups were interceptions, as Brantley has helped the Spartans overachieve. They'll have their hands full at Oregon this weekend.

#7. Jemari Harris, Iowa

The senior corner had an excellent season last year. At 6-foot-1, the rangy Harris is one of the nation's best cover corners. He has nine tackles but has also broken up seven passes, including a pair of interceptions. Harris and the Hawkeyes get a big test at Ohio State this weekend.

#6. Denzel Burke, Ohio State

The steady senior was second-team All-Big Ten last season. So far in 2024, Burke has 13 tackles and has snagged a pair of interceptions. Ohio State hasn't truly been tested yet, and Saturday's game against Iowa shouldn't be too challenging. But Burke is the kind of corner who will come up big when it matters.

#5. Mello Dotson, Kansas

Senior Dotson was second-team All-Big 12 in 2023. Kansas has been brutal, but Dotson hasn't. He has 27 tackles, has broken up five passes and managed three interceptions, including a pick-six. Doston will be tested at Arizona State in Week 6.

#4. Davison Igbinosun, Ohio State

Igbinosun is a 6-foot-2 junior who had an excellent freshman year at Ole Miss and then transferred to the Buckeyes. Now a veteran, Igbinosun has 10 tackles and a pass break-up so far this fall. He's just scratching the surface as a potential future NFL star.

#3. Will Johnson, Michigan

The 6-foot-2 junior remains a lockdown corner. He has missed a game due to injury, but when he's on the field, Johnson has 11 tackles. He also has five pass breakups, including a pair of interceptions, each of which was a pick-six touchdown. Johnson remains supremely talented and skilled and should play a role when the Wolverines take on the Washington Huskies.

#2. Terrence Spence, James Madison

Senior transfer Spence came over from Holy Cross and found an immediate home with the Dukes. The 6-foot-2 Spence is one of only a handful of players with three interceptions already on the season, one of which was returned for a pick-six score. Spence also has 14 tackles, but it's his pass-defending skills that ULM will try to counter on Saturday.

Williams is one of two players in the nation with four interceptions on the season. He was a solid returning starter, but the 6-foot-1 athlete has gone to another level in 2024. Williams has a dozen tackles and has broken up seven passes, including those four picks. He also has a kick return score. He's an impressive athlete who is worth Week 6 attention when the Golden Bears take on the Miami Hurricanes.
