Tez Johnson’s NFL draft projection

Tez Johnson is a wide receiver who is capable of accelerating to top speed quickly, which gives him an edge over cornerbacks. He exhibits exceptional body control, which enables him to make difficult catches. This also makes him excel at catching throws from his blind side.

He's also a catch-and-run threat, which makes him a viable option for quarterbacks on a deep-field throw. He’s also shown glimpses of a creative runner with good vision in the open field, which makes him a brilliant option as a return specialist on the special team.

He is also a precise route runner with the ability to set up defensive backs on his way, thereby creating separation. Johnson could make it as a first-round selection if he can repeat the brilliant season he had last year in 2024. He has the ambition to team up with his adoptive brother, quarterback Bo Nix, at the Denver Broncos.

Tez Johnson's college career so far

Tez Johnson started his college football career at Troy in 2020. He was a true freshman with the Trojans and appeared in 11 games as part of the wide receiver rotation. He recorded 18 receptions for 211 yards, showing glimpses of brilliance in his first season.

He became the team's leading receiver in 2021, recording 67 catches for 735 yards and four touchdowns. This earned him a third-team All-Sun Belt Conference honors. He remained Troy's top receiver in the 2022 season, recording 56 receptions for 863 yards and four touchdowns.

Johnson transferred to Oregon ahead of the 2023 season, joining Ducks QB1 Bo Nix. After recording 86 receptions for 1,182 yards and 10 touchdowns, he became Oregon's second-leading receiver after Troy Franklin. He will be playing one more season with the Ducks this year.
