The Syracuse Orange go on the road to play NC State on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET. The game can be seen on the ACC Network.
Syracuse (4-1, 1-1 ACC) is coming off a 44-41 OT win on the road against UNLV. On the other end, NC State (3-3, 0-2 ACC) is coming off a 34-30 loss against Wake Forest.
Syracuse vs NC State: Preview
The Syracuse Orange are 3.5-point favorites to defeat NC State on the road. The over/under is set at 54.5 points.
The Orange are coming off a solid OT win over UNLV. In the win, Syracuse was led by Kyle McCord who threw for 355 yards and three touchdowns. The Orange offense was solid and NC State coach Dave Doeren knows stopping Syracuse's offense will be tough.
"Really good quarterback in Kyle McCord, obviously a nationally known guy from Ohio State. Really good arm, poised, experienced. He's won a lot of games.The receivers have a lot of experience," Doeren said, via Rivals.
"[Trebor] Pena is a guy we've seen for a long time, and he's a good returner as well. [Oronde] Gadsden was out last year, but the year before we played him, and he made a lot of plays on us, and receiver No. 7, [Jackson] Meeks. The running back, [LeQuint] Allen, is an experienced back, and they get the ball to him in a lot of ways."
On defense, Syracuse is led by Fadil Diggs who has 4 sacks while Derek MacDonald leads the team with 32 tackles.
NC State, meanwhile, is coming off a home loss to Wake Forest in a game the Wolfpack lost quarterback Grayson McCall to an injury.
NC State has struggled this season, as the Wolfpack are 3-3 and coach Doeren says he knows the team needs to start winning games if they are going to be bowl-eligible.
Doeren also believes the crowd could play a role in the game.
“We've got six games, six opportunities. We'll take them all one at a time. We'll work our butts off. A lot to play for, a lot to fight for," Doeren said. "I know it's frustrating. I feel your pain, but I know one thing about this school.
"We don't quit. We dig in and fight, and we stick together, and that's what I'm asking for with our fans. We need your help in this game. Crowd noise matters at home. You're playing a team that throws the ball on the road, and having you behind us would mean a lot.”
Ultimately, with McCall being injured and how this Syracuse offense is rolling, this is a good spot to take the Orange on the road. Syracuse should be able to carve up the Wolfpack defense, similar to how Tennessee did, and cruise to a win here.
