Fans will have an entertaining Atlantic Coast Conference game in Week 4 of the 2024 season as the Stanford Cardinal take on the Syracuse Orange on Friday night inside the JMA Wireless Dome. This is the first time that these teams will battle it out in conference action, as Stanford is in its first year in the ACC.
Stanford vs. Syracuse preview
The Cardinal (1-1, 0-0 ACC) were off last week but last played on Sept. 7, where they defeated the Cal Poly Mustangs 41-7 at home.
Junior quarterback Ashton Daniels played a strong game as he went 19-of-23 for 221 yards with a pair of touchdown passes as well as nine carries for 31 yards (3.4 yards per attempt).
The Orange (2-0, 1-0) have started the season off strong as they also did not play last week, with their most recent game being on Sept. 7 at home against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 31-28.
Senior quarterback Kyle McCord was able to do very well as he went 32-of-46 for 381 yards with four passing touchdowns as well as three rushing attempts for 10 yards (3.3 yards per carry).
Stanford vs. Syracuse prediction
Both teams had a week off so despite there being an extended rest period, which is weird to see that neither team has a rest advantage. Looking at Kyle McCord's numbers, as he transferred from Ohio State during the offseason, he should be able to dominate against the Cardinal defense.
Syracuse's offense has shown to be able to score, as they have scored 31+ points in each game. Stanford has averaged 34.0 points per game up to this point. Neither team is running the football too well.
We are also seeing some line advantage in this game, as this game opened with a total of 58.5 points, so there is a slightly lower total for this game.
Tight end Oronde Gadsden II has been doing well with three touchdowns in the previous two games. That includes scoring a touchdown during each of the Orange's first two games of the season, so he is going to be a red zone threat.
All in all, expect a lot of points to be scored but the Syracuse Orange taking advantage at home as they pull away late.
