The New York Jets fired coach Robert Saleh on Tuesday morning and the news makes things interesting going forward. While he can collect the remaining money on his contract and wait, there is also the possibility that Saleh can go back to the college football world.

With college football programs always looking to improve, let's take a closer look at some teams that could use Saleh on their coaching staff going forward.

Michigan State Spartans

Many people may not know this but Robert Saleh began his coaching career with the Michigan State Spartans as he served as an offensive assistant for tight ends in 2002 and defensive assistant for the defensive line in 2003.

While the Spartans are under new leadership with Jonathan Smith in his first year, Saleh could join his staff. One thing that Saleh was able to do is dominate defensively and helping the program that gave him his start makes sense.

Georgia Bulldogs

This is something that we have seen a lot of SEC teams do as they would hire former NFL coaches to help aid their coaching staff. The Georgia Bulldogs are arguably the best defensive program in college football and adding a defensive-minded coach in Robert Saleh to assist their staff would be beneficial. Saleh also was a coach at the University of Georgia in 2005 as he served as a defensive assistant coach for linebackers that season under Mark Richt.

This would keep Saleh in the coaching game and use it to bolster his way back to a head coaching position if he wants to take the route guys like Bill O'Brien took.

Western Michigan Broncos

The Western Michigan Broncos need to figure out how to fix their defense as they are one of the worst in college football with 36.8 points allowed per game. It would also be a chance for Robert Saleh to return home as he is a Michigan native.

This is something that second-year coach Lance Taylor could use to help his defense as he is an offensive coach. Defensive coordinator Scott Power is in his first year with the program as well and getting an experienced coach that does well with defensive schemes like Saleh in the MAC could be interesting.
