Utah QB Cam Rising made a comeback on the gridiron in Week 7 against Arizona State. He missed the past three games because of an injury to his throwing hand during Utah's victory against Baylor in Week 2.

However, despite returning as the starting QB for the Utah Utes, Rising might have potentially injured himself once again during the clash with Arizona State. So what happened to the seventh-year quarterback?

What happened to Cam Rising against Arizona State?

Cam Rising took a big hit while making a play during the first half of the Utah vs. Arizona State showdown. He was sacked while trying to make a pass and landed awkwardly on his ankle.

Following the tackle, the quarterback started limping around the field while making plays but was not replaced by head coach Kyle Whittingham.

If Rising is sidelined once again due to the potential injury, it could disappointingly end his collegiate career. The QB's journey has been plagued with unfortunate injuries, making it difficult for him to create an impact as a player.

Isaac Wilson took over as Utah's starting QB during Rising's absence this season, and Whittingham might decide to play him for the rest of the season.

Cam Rising's comeback has not been effective for Utah against Arizona State

Despite the hype surrounding his comeback, Rising did not have a great first half against the Sun Devils. He completed just seven of the 20 passes he attempted and also had a pass intercepted by LB Caleb McCullough near the endzone. At the end of the first half, Arizona State took the lead in the game by four points (13-9).

The second half did not see any significant improvement in Rising's performance. He threw another interception as Keith Abney II ended Utah's 4-play, 23-yard drive. Despite this, the Utes took a momentary lead when Micah Bernard scored a 6-yard rushing touchdown.

However, Arizona State quickly replied when Cam Skattebo scored a 50-yard rushing TD to put his team in the driver's seat at the end of the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Utah's Cole Becker scored a 46-yard FG to close the gap by one point.

In the end, Skattebo scored a 47-yard rushing touchdown, which proved to be the deciding factor in this Week 7 contest. The Sun Devils emerged victorious with a 27-19 final score with Cam Rising recording a total of 209 passing yards and three interceptions. He completedz only 16 of the 37 passes he attempted on the field.
