Michigan Wolverines coach Sherrone Moore reached out with a message of support after Detroit Lions' defensive end Aidan Hutchinson suffered what is likely a season-ending injury. The edge rusher injured his left leg while sacking Dallas Cowboys’ Dak Prescott on Sunday.

In a heartfelt text, Moore encouraged the former Wolverine and wished him a swift and successful recovery. According to the Lions, Hutchinson underwent successful surgery following the game on Sunday to repair his fractured tibia and fibula.

“I just want to say a prayer to him and his family. Horrific injury," Sherrone Moore said at his weekly press conference on Monday. “A great human being.

“Obviously, an outstanding player, but a great human being who left a legacy here. I know he's the heartbeat of that team. So, really, just want to say a prayer to him and his family, tell them that they're in our thoughts.”

Aidan Hutchinson had his career at Michigan from 2018 to 2021. He played an important role in the Wolverines' Big Ten title success in the 2021 season, with his performance earning him a Unanimous All-American honor. He was selected as the No. 2 pick by the Lions in 2022.

Sherrone Moore discloses Michigan’s captain effort during the bye week

Michigan hasn't returned to the 2024 college football season as the same team that it was in 2023. The Wolverines have so far suffered two losses with their playoff hopes in jeopardy.

However, the bye week was an avenue to set things right. Sherrone Moore highlighted the pivotal role his team captains played during the break. he explained that the captains were instrumental in helping him identify and address key issues within the team.

“The cool thing I see, especially in this bye week, is just watching guys not attack people but attack problems,” Moore said on the ‘Inside Michigan Football’ radio show.
“Anything that they see, they point it out. I meet with the captains every week, and there are different things that they’re not afraid to acknowledge, things that are going on. It’s really cool to have a bunch of guys that are leaders on your team.”

Before the 2024 season began, Michigan elected four captains and two alternates. However, the program recently made an adjustment to the captaincy roster for the rest of the season.

Senior Josaiah Stewart was originally voted an alternate captain alongside graduate running back Kalel Mullings. However, Stewart has been elevated to full captain by head coach Sherrone Moore, making him the team's fifth captain while Mulling remains the only alternate.
