Dillon Gabriel comes out victorious from "heavyweights dogfight"

On Saturday, the former Sooners QB showed why the Ducks put so much trust in him in the offseason. After his performance against Ohio State, Gabriel showed why he's one of college football’s top quarterbacks, with Heisman shouts already looming. In his postgame press conference, the Ducks QB said:

“We all knew we were getting a dogfight, two heavyweights going at it. That's what college football is all about.”

The game’s defining moment came in the fourth quarter when Gabriel faked a handoff and ran 27 yards for a touchdown, putting Oregon ahead. This play made Gabriel the first FBS player, to have 125 throwing touchdowns and 30 rushing touchdowns in his career. Oregon's coach couldn’t have been more proud of his star man in the postgame conference.

"Every time I went and looked at his eyes tonight, I saw a guy who was composed and ready for his next moment. He played really, really well tonight and had some really big moments," Lanning said.

Gabriel, making his 55th career start, completed 23 of 34 passes, managing 341 yards and two touchdowns.
