Paul Finebaum makes depressing CFP playoff prediction for Lane Kiffin's Ole Miss in 2024 season

College football analyst Paul Finebaum doesn't think the Ole Miss Rebels will be as good as many think.

Ole Miss has been active in the transfer portal, and many believe it could be a dark horse to win the national championship. Yet, Finbaum doesn't think Ole Miss will even make the college football playoffs.

"I would say no," Finebaum said on "The Berry Tramel Show," via Athlon Sports. "Everyone in the media, Berry, we're on the older statesman side of it, is in love with Lane Kiffin. They think he's hilarious. I don't think he's that funny. I don't think his tweets are that interesting, and his coaching has been underwhelming at times. I'll believe it when I see it."

If the Rebels miss the playoffs, it would be a surprise. DraftKings has Ole Miss at -130 odds to make the playoffs, according to DraftKings, which implies a 56.5 percent chance of making the postseason.

Lane Kiffin excited about his Ole Miss team entering 2024

Lane Kiffin is entering his fifth year as the head coach of the Rebels.

In his four years at Ole Miss, the Rebels are 34-15. This season, quarterback Jaxson Dart and other players have returned to try to win a national championship, which was exciting for Kiffin.

“He finished the season really well, played through some injuries, and I think it’s really neat to see a team where a lot of these guys had a chance to go to the NFL and probably could’ve been middle-round picks, but they decided to come back, which is unusual. They came back to try and do something special, so it is a really cool group of kids," Kiffin said, via The Rebel Walk.

Kiffin is also excited about his defensive line, which he believes could be one of the best in college football.

"We really haven’t had a bigger D-line since we’ve ben here. There are some guys who could be high NFL picks, and this conference is a total game-changer. I’m excited, and if they develop like they should, we could really look good on defense up front," Kiffin added.

Ole Miss will have notable games against Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, Florida and Mississippi State this upcoming season.
