Paul Finebaum is commonly known as the voice of the Southeastern Conference. The college football analyst is a big advocate of the conference but he believes that Clemson and Florida State won't be joining it anytime soon.

In the latest edition of The Paul Finebaum Show on Friday, the SEC Network analyst said:

"I do not believe Florida State and Clemson are headed to the SEC."

Finebaum didn't delve deep into an explanation of why the two ACC programs won't join the SEC.

However, his blunt verdict appears to have quelled the reports of Clemson and Florida State switching to the Southeastern Conference.

In May, Finebaum had said that FSU was ahead of Clemson in the race to join the SEC.

“We know Florida State has pulled ahead of them [Clemson]. There are other schools that could do that as well. Miami is one, you just have to wonder. If they get it right under Mario Cristobal, then that’s another school that could inch ahead of them,” Finebaum said.

Clemson and FSU were reportedly set to join the SEC after the 2024-25 season but it appears the move won't be happening anytime soon.

Nonetheless, the SEC is still looking to expand after bringing in Oklahoma and Texas to the conference this year. The SEC now has 16 teams in total with the recent addition of the two programs.

While informing his fans on the happenings in the SEC, Paul Finebaum also made some brutal remarks on Nebraska coach Matt Rhule on his show. At Nebraska's media day on Wednesday, Rhule suggested that the new 12-team College Football Playoff should feature four teams from the Big Ten.

However, Rhule's suggestion didn't go down well with longtime SEC analyst Finebaum, who fired back at the Cornhuskers coach.

"I just think when you're a cellar dweller, your program sucks like the Nebraska program does, don't worry about everyone else," Finebaum said. "Try to get to a bowl and stop blowing games and choking games on the final play."

Nebraska has managed just one season with 10 or more wins since joining the Big Ten in 2011. In Rhule's first year with Nebraska in 2023, he posted a 5-7 record and the Cornhuskers failed to qualify for a bowl game.
