Oklahoma coach Brent Venables hasn't released a statement on the arrest of Makari Vickers.

Makari Vickers' career at Oklahoma

Makari Vickers was recruited as a four-star prospect by the Sooners in the 2023 class. In his freshman year last season, he made eight tackles in eight games. He missed the other four games due to injuries.

Vickers is expected to have a larger role in the 2024 season as he enters his sophomore year. He's considered the primary backup to Woodi Washington, the sixth-year senior who is expected to retain the starting role.

However, Vickers' status for the upcoming college football season is now uncertain following the arrest after playing an upgraded role in spring practices.

Makari Vickers played for Robert F. Munroe Day School in Tallahassee, Florida. He was rated a top 100 prospect in his class and had offers from the likes of Alabama.
