Entering Week 3, the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes have started their 2024 season off strong, with blowout wins over Akron and Western Michigan. Ohio State kicked off its season with a 52-6 win over the Zips and followed that with a 56-0 win over the Broncos.

Despite entering the season with somewhat of a question mark at the quarterback position, senior Will Howard has shown the ability to lead a talented offense. Through two games, Howard has completed 64.8% of his passes for 520 yards and four touchdowns without an interception.

Ohio State has one of the deepest and most talented quarterback rooms in the country, and coach Ryan Day was able to get a look at his other quarterbacks in Saturday's win and was pleased with what he saw.

"I thought (Devin Brown) did a nice job on that first drive he went in there," Day said. "He hit a nice play-action pass, did a couple nice things, threw an over out to Bryson Rodgers, which was well done, made a couple nice checks in the run game."

Ryan Day also commented on Julian Sayin and Lincoln Keinholz, who each made appearances:

"I felt like we wanted to get (Sayin) in there, and (Kienholz) as well. Those guys are working, and they deserve an opportunity to play in those types of situations. The more we can do that the better."

Junior quarterback Devin Brown completed all five of his attempts for 57 yards, leading an eight-play, 81-yard touchdown drive to extend Ohio State's lead to 49-0 in the third quarter.

Sayin, a freshman quarterback, completed both of his attempts for 61 yards, including a 55-yard touchdown to tight end Bennett Christian.

Ryan Day praises former Ohio State QB after strong start

Former Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord received national attention after his first two starts for Syracuse. McCord completed 27 of 39 pass attempts for 354 yards and four touchdowns with an interception in the season opener versus Ohio.

The senior followed that with another strong showing in Syracuse's upset win over No. 23 Georgia Tech, completing 32 of 46 pass attempts for 381 yards and four touchdowns without an interception.

McCord's former coach, Ryan Day, had high praise for his former quarterback on Tuesday.

"I've only seen a few highlights, and it looks like he's doing a great job," Day said. "It looks like the first couple games he's gotten a good rhythm and got a great win this past weekend."

McCord is third among FBS quarterbacks in passing yards and tied for first in passing touchdowns.
