Nick Saban gets real about Lane Kiffin's mentality after a loss ahead of crucial LSU clash

Lane Kiffin and the No. 9-ranked Ole Miss Rebels (5-1, 1-1 Southeastern Conference) have a make-or-break matchup versus the No. 13 LSU Tigers (4-1, 1-0). The Rebels are looking to reestablish themselves as one of the top teams in the country after their loss to the Kentucky Wildcats in Week 5.

Before the loss to Kentucky, Ole Miss was ranked as high as No. 5 in the AP Top 25 but slid to No. 12. On "College GameDay," Lane Kiffin's mentor Nick Saban discussed what fans can expect from his former offensive coordinator's team going forward after the loss.

"They bounced back well against South Carolina," Saban said. "[Lane Kiffin's] a good coach. He's going to do a great job of calling plays. He'll know how to attack their defense and he's a great, great play caller."

After an open week, Ole Miss will look to bounce back in their first Top 25 matchup of the season on Saturday. The Rebels have plenty of quality opponents left on their schedule and getting momentum back on their side will be key.

Lane Kiffin's Rebels favored versus LSU ahead of tough stretch

The Rebels enter the week not as underdogs despite going on the road. Sportsbooks have them as a 3.5-point favorite over the Tigers.

Their game versus LSU will be the first of three Top 25 matchups in their next four games. After the Week 7 matchup, the Rebels will head back home to face No. 18-ranked Oklahoma (4-1, 1-1). They will go back on the road to Fayetteville to take on Arkansas (4-2, 2-1 SEC) who are feeling good after a historic upset over Tennesee.

In Week 11, the Rebels will face their biggest test of the season when they host the No. 5-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (4-1, 2-1).

The Rebels will have plenty of opportunities to reestablish their status as a national championship contender.
