New Pac-12 teams list (UPDATED): Which schools have joined Teresa Gould's league in latest conference realignment wave? 

Last year's exodus from the Pac-12 conference saw USC, UCLA, Oregon and Washington joining the Big Ten, while Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State, and Utah joined the Big 12.

This was followed by Cal and Stanford going to the ACC, leaving the once 12-member conference to only two members, Washington State and Oregon State.

In a major move to rebuild the conference, new commissioner Teresa Gould has been making significant steps by adding more member schools.

Pac-12 was successful in landing four Mountain West programs, including Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, and San Diego State. They will join the conference by 2026. On Tuesday, Utah State also accepted an invitation to join Pac-12 in July 2026, thereby increasing the count to seven.

Pac-12 confirmed members beginning from July 2026:

1. Oregon State
2. Washington State
3. Boise State
4. Colorado State
5. Fresno State
6. San Diego State
7. Utah State

This means Pac-12 needs only one more member before 2026 to regain its Power 5 status.

Teresa Gould welcomes Pac-12's newest member, Utah State

Over the last few days, rumors of Utah State joining Pac-12 have been a major conference realignment chatter. This got official after the school formally accepted an invitation to join Pac-12 beginning July 2026.

"We are thrilled to welcome Utah State University to the Pac-12, as they join us on this exciting journey forward," Pac-12 Commissioner Teresa Gould said in a statement.

According to Fox13, the addition was voted in unanimously.

"The vision of the Pac-12 Conference firmly aligns with USU's mission and our commitments to the future," USU President Elizabeth Cantwell said.

"This move unlocks new possibilities by directly enhancing the student-athlete experience and will significantly strengthen our reputation for competitive success, academic achievement, and research excellence," she added.

However, there are repercussions associated with Pac-12 bringing in five programs from the Mountain West conference. There will be a "poaching penalty." As per the penalty, which is reportedly in line with the scheduling agreement, Pac-12 may have to pay up $52 million and more.

According to Score, for every program Pac-12 poaches from Mountain West, the rebuilding conference will have to pay $10 million and incremental addition of $500,000 for more than one school leaving. So far, five of them have officially made the decision to leave.

In response, Pac-12 has filed a lawsuit, calling this penalty unlawful and unenforceable. More updates on this development are awaited.
