In November 2023, Kalen DeBoer's elder daughter, infielder Alexis DeBoer, was signed as a freshman by the Washington Huskies. On Thursday, his younger daughter, Avery, shared an Instagram post from the Huskies' softball account, which uploaded an introductory photo of Alexis. It was captioned:
"Get to know #️⃣1️⃣6️⃣ Alexis DeBoer!"
The post also mentioned why Alexis chose to stay in Washington even though her father moved to Alabama after Nick Saban's retirement. She wrote:
"I chose the University of Washington because it felt like home and everyone was inviting. It is a great balance of academics and athletics and you receive so much support for anything you need."
Avery's repost was captioned:
"miss you sis! ❤️"
Washington coach Heather Tarr has high hopes for Alexis and hopes she contributes to the team as the Huskies transition to the Big Ten. Tarr said:
"She brings experience and strength to our lineup. She’s an athletic, corner infielder with some big power in her bat. Being a daughter of a coach is something we value in our program…We look for Alexis to make an immediate impact on Husky Softball, not only on the field, but off the field as well."
Extra Innings Softball ranked coach DeBoer's daughter as No. 11 in the class of 2024.
The Alabama coach has been adapting well to his new life in Tuscaloosa as coach of the No. 7 Alabama Crimson Tide (5-1, 2-1, SEC). While he gets ready for the next game against No. 11 Tennessee Volunteers (5-1, 2-1) on Saturday, he has another star of his own making waves at the Washington Huskies, albeit for their softball team.

Alexis DeBoer has been loving the softball camp in Washington. She joined the team on July 9 and celebrated her first day with an Instagram story captioned:
"UW CAMP DAY 1!!"
The program faced challenges after multiple players entered the transfer portal, but Heather Tarr has quickly rebuilt with strong recruits like Alexis.
