Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe is having a strong start to the 2024 season, which is being noticed by his coach Kalen DeBoer. Last weekend, he led the Crimson Tide to an iconic victory over the Georgia Bulldogs.

DeBoer went on Friday's edition of 'Gojo and Golic' to talk about the experience of working with Jalen Milroe. During the conversation, he said:

"He (Jalen Milroe) has got the tools, he can spin it, he’s accurate passer, he works hard, he’s got a lot of those handles and tangibles but I think what he is doing a good job at is just staying disciplined, to what we are asking him to do and not trying to go above and beyond … his eyes are in the right stop 99% of the time." In the four games that the Alabama Crimson Tide have played this season, Milroe has already thrown for 964 yards and 10 touchdowns. This is an average of 241 yards a game. If he continues with this, he will record slightly more than the 2,834 yards he got last year.

The major improvement in the performance of Milroe has been seen in his rushing games. During those four games that Alabama has played, Milroe rushed for 273 yards and scored eight touchdowns. This is already more than half of his total from 2023 (531 yards and 12 touchdowns).

Milroe is a very talented player and is thriving under the reign of Kalen DeBoer. His performances have crushed any doubt that Alabama would struggle without Nick Saban.

Also, it has helped Milroe out on a personal level. He is now a real contender to win the Heisman Trophy and even make a claim to be the best quarterback in the upcoming draft class and potentially the number one pick of the draft.

Jalen Milroe is compared to Lamar Jackson

It is not only his coaches who have seen an improvement in Jalen Milroe. Those associated with the NFL have as well.

Dan Patrick, host of 'The Dan Patrick Show', spoke about a conversation he had with an NFL scout regarding Milroe on Thursday.

"I talked to an NFL scout yesterday ... he watches a lot of tape, he goes to see teams in person, and he called me. He said, 'Hey, get ahead of the curve. Jalen Milroe is a better-throwing Lamar Jackson he said ... The jump from last year to this year is remarkable... he's a great deep-ball thrower."

The comparisons between Milroe and Jackson make sense. Both are incredible mobile quarterbacks who are impressive both with their arms and their feet.

As Patrick points out, we have seen this year that Milroe can deliver many deep passes alongside the long runs, something that Jackson has struggled with.
