Georgia linebacker Jalon Walker felt a little niggle on Saturday as the Texas Longhorns (6-1, 2-1) faced Kirby Smart's Georgia Bulldogs (6-1, 4-1) in week 8 of the 2024 college football season.

The game promised a heavyweight SEC battle between the two football powerhouses, but Smart's tactics and the Bulldogs' rugged defense proved too much for Steve Sarkisian' men.

The Bulldogs beat the Longhorns 30-15 to hand Sarkisian his first defeat of the season but had to eliminate Walker before halftime.

Jalon Walker injury

Walker suffered an injury during the Bulldogs' showdown with Texas. In the first two quarters, he proved one too many for the Texas offense but was escorted to the locker room for medical attention mid-game.

The nature of the injury is still unknown, but Georgia felt his absence immediately in the third quarter, as the Longhorns scored 15 points after failing to register until halftime.

Jalon Walker was terrorizing the offense, recording seven tackles, three sacks and three tackles for loss before going off. He overwhelmed Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers as the Bulldogs held the Longhorns to just 38 total yards and sacked Ewers five times.

Walker returned to the field later, but the severity of his injury is unknown. As fans await more updates, Georgia hopes that the injury isn’t severe enough to keep him off the field in the coming weeks.

Amid Jalon Walker injury, beer cans and water bottles cause decision change in Texas vs Georgia

It may be a first in college football, as Longhorn fans got furious late in the third quarter during their Saturday night clash with the Bulldogs. Down 23-8, a controversial pass interference call threatened to derail Texas’ comeback hopes.

Jahdae Barron had picked off Georgia QB Carson Beck, sprinting down the sideline to set Texas up for a crucial goal-line opportunity. But SEC officials flagged it, wiping the interception off the board.

The crowd erupted, and it wasn’t just boos filling the air. Beer cans and water bottles flew onto the field, causing a chaotic scene that forced a game delay. Texas coach Steve Sarkisian had to step in, pleading with fans to stop the madness.

Then came the twist: after a huddle, the officiating crew reversed their call, admitting there was no pass interference. Texas retained possession inside Georgia’s 10-yard line and quickly punched in a touchdown, closing the gap to 23-15 and reigniting hope in Austin, but to no avail eventually.
