Dillon Gabriel has done well for No. 3 Oregon this season. The quarterback arrived in Eugene this year following his transfer from Oklahoma. He replaced Bo Nix, who was a Heisman Trophy finalist last season, on the Ducks’ offense.

Oregon squares up against No. 2 Ohio State on Saturday, and Dillon Gabriel is looking forward to the chance of playing against the Buckeyes. The two teams, considered contenders in the Big Ten, enter the encounter undefeated after five games.

“It’s why you play the game,” Gabriel said to the media ahead of the game. “That’s why we all want to be a part of teams that win and go to the last game of the season.

“It’s taking it one step at a time; if there’s anything I’ve realized through my five, now six years of playing it’s like, you got to take it one week at a time and this is the next step.”

Dillon Gabriel targets a win against Ohio State

Dillon Gabriel has set his eyes on a win when Ohio State visits Eugene this weekend. The Buckeyes are considered a four-point favorite for the Big Ten contest, but the quarterback remains focused on the goal.

“Of course, the atmosphere, college football in general, this is what you dream of," Gabriel said.
"But you got a job to do, you got to execute, you have to play hard and find a way to win. “Of course, we live for it, and I think you have to go back to the basics of the process and prepare the right way.”

During his time at Oklahoma, Dillon Gabriel appeared in this level of game in the Red River Rivalry. He threw a final-minute touchdown pass to Nic Anderson to secure the Sooners a 34-30 win over Texas last season. He will hope to replicate such a performance against Ohio State.

A game with a lot of implications

Either Oregon or Ohio State will leave Autzen Stadium with its unbeaten record shattered. More importantly, the game is bound to have a lot of postseason implications, making it a huge avenue for the teams.

“I think this is a great opportunity for two great teams to get to play against each other,” Oregon coach Dan Lanning said. “I think that’s why you come to a place like this. I think this will be an awesome atmosphere for our fans and certainly our players.”

The Buckeyes boast the No. 1 defense in the nation this season alongside an offense capable of explosive plays. That presents a great challenge in front of the Ducks, who are new to the Big Ten. Nonetheless, Lanning’s team has expressed their readiness for the upcoming challenge.
