Lance Leipold has been the coach of the Kansas Jayhawks since 2021. In his three-season stint, he has led the program to two bowl games, winning last season's Guaranteed Rate Bowl against UNLV.

As Leipold progresses through his fourth season with the Jayhawks, he has not had a lot of success so far. Following a season-opening victory against Lindenwood, the Kansas Jayhawks have lost their last two games to Illinois and UNLV. So, is Leipold in the hot seat?

Is Lance Leipold on hot seat?

No, Lance Leipold is not on the hot seat despite the Kansas Jayhawks losing their week 3 showdown against UNLV. The team still has the opportunity to qualify for the bowl games despite being on a two-game losing streak.

During his stint with the Jayhawks, Lance Leipold has put up an 18-23 overall record. Fans and the team still believe in his abilities to lead them to a successful campaign and bowl game appearance.

Last season, Leipold led the Jayhawks to a 9-4 overall campaign, marking the second consecutive season that they qualified for the bowl games. They finished seventh in the Big 12 conference and won their first bowl game in 15 years.

Lance Leipold puts his faith in QB Jalon Daniels despite struggles

One of the main reasons why the Jayhawks are struggling on offense is because of QB Jalon Daniels.

He has been inefficient in his passing game, leading the team missing out on offensive opportunities on the field. Last season, Daniels played just three games before missing the rest of the season due to injuries.

He returned for another season with the Jayhawks this year. In three games, he has recorded 442 passing yards and three TD passes with six interceptions. However, Leipold has faith in his QB's abilities to lead the team on the gridiron.

"Leipold expresses complete confience in Jalon Daniels moving forward and says he's not worried about Jalon's competitiveness, work ethic and attitude," Matt Tait reported.

The Jayhawks are next scheduled to face the West Virginia Mountaineers on Saturday, September 21. The week 4 game is expected to kick off at around noon E.T as Leipold and Co. seek to snap their losing streak.
