Paul Finebaum has hyped up Brent Venables' Oklahoma ahead of the 2024 college football season. The college football analyst dropped a bold prediction for the Sooners, who will be playing in the Southeastern Conference this season after leaving the Big 12.

On Friday's (August 2) episode of "The Paul Finebaum Show," Finebaum said that he expects Oklahoma to post a strong winning record for the 2024 season, after meeting with coach Venables and his staff in the offseason.

"I think Oklahoma is a 9-3 team," Finebaum said (per ATHLON Sports). "I've been out there a couple of times this year in April and July and had a chance to be around Coach Venables and the rest of the staff. I'm really high on what's happening out there."

Venables will enter his third season with Oklahoma in 2024. He led the team to a 6-7 record in his first year at the helm before posting a 10-3 record in 2023.

However, the 2024 season will be challenging for Venables, especially since the Southeastern Conference is widely regarded as one of the most competitive in the country. Nonetheless, with the College Football Playoff expanding to 12 teams this season, the Sooners will be eyeing a playoff spot.
