ACC releases statement on why the hail-mary touchdown by Virginia Tech was overturned

Two hours after the chaotic end of the Miami vs Virginia Tech showdown, the ACC released a statement where they explained the factors resulting in the decision taken by the referees.

In the statement, the ACC explained how the ball was touched by a Miami player while out of bounds, which led to it being an incomplete pass. Thus the hail-mary touchdown was overturned after the review.

"During the review process of the last play of the Virginia Tech at Miami game, it was determined that the loose ball was touched by a Miami player while he was out of bounds which makes it an incomplete pass and immediately ends the play."

Following this heartbreaking loss, the Hokies are now scheduled to take on the Stanford Cardinal on Saturday, October 5. It will be interesting to see if they can end their two-game losing streak by securing a victory against their ACC counterpart.
