When Virginia Tech QB Kyron Drones hit the 30-yard Hail Mary touchdown pass to Da'Quan Felton with just a few seconds left in the fourth quarter, the Hokies erupted onto the field to celebrate the victory. However, the happiness was short-lived as the play went into review by the referees.

After several minutes of reviewing, the touchdown was ruled incomplete, giving the Miami Hurricanes the victory. This left the Hokies team and fanbase heartbroken despite the ACC releasing a statement explaining that a Miami player had touched the ball while being out of bounds which led to the pass being incomplete.

Fans took to social media to share their thoughts and perspectives on the chaotic outcome of the Miami vs Virginia Tech showdown. One fan stated that the Hokies were 'robbed' of the victory after the controversial decision.

"Hokies robbed yet again."

Another fan felt that the outcome of the game was already decided before the showdown.

"Rigged"

This fan had a rather interesting take as to why the hail-mary touchdown by Virginia Tech was overruled.

"There is not a single person in the world who could look at those replays and change anything regardless of the call on the field. The ACC is protecting Miami because if they make it to the CFP they get more money. ncaa is a 'non for profit.'"

Another fan extended their congratulations to the Hurricanes for emerging victorious against Virginia Tech.

"Aww, congrats to the No.7 Miami! That's a nail-biter of a game! Didn't expect the Hokies' final play to be ruled incomplete. But hey, that's the beauty of sports, right?"

This fan is still unconvinced by the fact that the Hokies lost the game due to the controversial call.

"@ACCFootballl- the game result should be overturned. VT was robbed. Not only on the final play, but on the negated earlier TD on the fake holding call."

Cam Ward's performance against Virginia Tech

Miami QB Cam Ward put up another spectacular offensive performance to help the Hurricanes secure a five-game winning streak. Despite them trailing by seven points at the end of the first half, Mario Cristobal's team did not give up hope.

Cam Ward secured a total of three touchdowns in the second half which proved to be the game-changer for the Hurricanes. After his 17-yard rushing TD in the third quarter, Ward threw two TD passes to Cam McCormick and Isaiah Horton in the fourth quarter to make the score 38-34.

In the end, Cam Ward ended the night with 343 passing yards and four TD passes against Virginia Tech. With this victory, the No. 7 rankes Hurricanes are now a step closer to being a contender for the new 12-team playoffs this season.
