College football analyst Paul Finebaum spilled the beans on his relationship with Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin. During the SEC Media Days, things between the duo got heated when Finebaum talked about Kiffin being fired from his job with the USC Trojans.

On "The Dan Patrick Show," Finebaum talked about the interview with Kiffin during the SEC Media Days. Despite mentioning Kiffin as a friend, Finebaum said that the Ole Miss head coach still can't get over his comments during College GameDay, where Finebaum called Kiffin the 'Miley Cyrus of college football coaching,' ultimately leading to his being fired from USC.

"It depends. He's a very moody guy in case you haven't notice," Finebaum said. "I hate to burst a great feud. But that happened on a Monday at 5:45 and suddenly on Thursday it got reported in the moment that it had been a moment of Media Days. We text, we're friends. He just can't seem to get over something that 11 years ago on College GameDay, he claims I got him fired. And I think there's a lot of truth to it by the way."

"He's like that high school girlfriend or boyfriend that' still carrying that torch. And he's gonna show up at the wedding no matter how many times you get married to try to destroy you."

Lane Kiffin served as the head coach of the USC Trojans from 2010 to 2013. The program then decided to fire Kiffin from his position following USC's 62-41 loss at the hands of Arizona State. After this, he joined Nick Saban's coaching staff in Alabama as the offensive coordinator for three seasons.

Lane Kiffin's response to Paul Finebaum's comments amid 2024 SEC Media Days

After the CFB analyst talked about his part in Lane Kiffin's exit from the USC Trojans, the Ole Miss head coach slapped back at Finebaum, stating that his 'big splash' on College GameDay led to USC's AD and President finalizing their decision on Kiffin's future with the program.

"You really did, because it is a true story that the athletic director and the president were on that trip," Kiffin said. "We were playing that night and you were on 'College GameDay' and you had to make your big splash.
"They were watching it because I know the other person in the room who was watching it with them. And you said what a joke I was, I'm the 'Miley Cyrus of college football coaching,' and I should be fired. They looked at eaech other and later that night, I was fired."

Lane Kiffin took over as the head coach of Ole Miss in 2020. And as they prepare for the upcoming season, he will be looking forward to making the Rebels a playoff contender in the new 12-team format.
