Georgia Tech vs. UNC summary

Georgia Tech was a small betting favorite heading into its game against UNC, and it proved to be as close a game as the sportsbooks predicted. It was a back-and-forth affair between two teams looking to improve their seasons and build momentum.

The first quarter was active for both teams as the Yellow Jackets capitalized on a fumble by Jacolby Criswell on UNC’s first drive of the game. The Yellow Jackets recovered the ball and scored in six plays.

However, two plays later, UNC scored a touchdown of its own, only needing three plays to go 78 yards down the field and into the end zone.

The second quarter was back and forth again as the Tar Heels missed a field goal on its first drive before the Yellow Jackets scored one of their own on the very next drive. The teams traded touchdowns in the middle of the second quarter, with Georgia Tech scoring first. However, on the next play, Georgia Tech scored another field goal to bring its lead to 20-14 at the end of the first half.

The third quarter started well for Georgia Tech as it scored a TD on its first drive. However, UNC cut the lead to 27-24 by scoring a field goal and then a touchdown off a punt return.

Georgia Tech extended its lead to 34-24 on its opening drive in the fourth quarter. However, UNC responded, scoring a touchdown and a field goal with less than a minute left to tie the game.

However, the dramatics did not end there as Georgia Tech scored with 16 seconds left off a 68-yard run by Jamal Haynes. The game ended 41-34 after a hail mary by UNC was incomplete.
