Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders has been back training ahead of the 2024 college football season with a lot of attention focused on him and his father Deion Sander's second year in Boulder.
For the Fourth of July celebrations, the Buffs QB headed to Miami and linked up with Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward with whom he shares quarterback passing coach Darrell Colbert.
The workout did not go well for the charismatic quarterback, with Ward calling him out on his efforts in a video posted on the "Well Off Media" YouTube channel.
On "Big Smitty Monday," former NFL quarterback Shaun King called out the popular Shedeur Sanders for his jet-setting lifestyle in Colorado based on Cam Ward's sentiments.
"Obviously, Shedeur Sanders isn't really putting that work in," King said (Timestamp: 2:10). "It's one of the things that I've always wondered. So much of his offseason work is off the campus of Colorado. It's always, 'We in Miami; we're going on the yacht tonight.' So, like, 'We on the beach; we're going to film a little clip of us doing something.' Like, 'We in Atlanta; we're going here we got a concert tonight. Wo we are at a local party.'
"All of this said ... Hey, he might be getting it in, and I've never judged him, but in the back of my mind I know what that grind looks like. And for Cam to call him out, it's almost like Cam telling him, like, "Hey, man, look. That was BS today. I've seen you work hard."
Shedeur Sanders compared to Seahawks QB
Shedeur Sanders had a spectacular debut FBS season for the Colorado Buffaloes, passing for 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns and just three interceptions despite playing with a less-than-stellar offensive line.
His natural progression saw him tabbed as a potential high pick in the 2024 NFL draft, but he opted to stay in Boulder under his father, Deion Sanders, for an extra season, but he continues to generate buzz ahead of the 2025 draft.
Former NFL scout and NFL.com analyst Daniel Jeremiah compared Sanders to Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith.
"Like Smith during his time with the (West Virginia) Mountaineers, Sanders plays in a wide-open college offense that showcases his polish as a passer," Jeremiah wrote. "Both Smith and Sanders have beautiful throwing motions and deliver a firm/catchable ball. While each is capable of taking the free yards presented in the run game, neither is dynamic as a ball carrier.
"Following a long, rocky start to this NFL career, Smith blossomed into a Pro Bowl quarterback. I see similar upside in Sanders."
Shedeur Sanders is projected to be a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft by ESPN.
