Vanderbilt Commodores QB Diego Pavia was the hero of the offense in their historic week 6 victory over Alabama. The QB and his team managed to finally break the program's 23-game losing streak to the Crimson Tide.

Following the victory, Coach Prime's eldest son Deion Sanders Jr. took to social media to make a huge revelation about Diego Pavia. In a tweet that he shared on X, Sanders Jr. stated that the quarterback supposedly had the chance to play under Coach Prime during his three-season stint with Jackson State.

Deion Sanders Jr. also congratulated Pavia and the Commodores for their victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide.

"Diego Pavia.... Bro has an incredible story! He was also supposed to come to Jackson State. Good game, You deserve it. Congratulations my brother!"

At the start of his college career, Pavia did play JUCO football. Coming out of Volcano Vista High School, the QB committed to play for the New Mexico Military Institute for two seasons. After his junior college, Pavia had offers from New Mexico State, Jackson State, Eastern New Mexico, and Saint Francis.

He decided to commit to the Aggies over Jackon State and joined the program in 2022. During his two-season stint with New Mexico State, Diego Pavia recorded a total of 4,423 passing yards and 39 TD passes. He completed 322-of-the-556 passes he attempted and had a 57.9% completion rate.

Last December, Pavia announced that he would be entering the transfer portal. This led to him joining the Vanderbilt Commodores and becoming their starting quarterback this season. The program also brought in ex-Aggies head coach Jerry Kill as a consultant along with the QB.

Diego Pavia's stats tonight against Alabama

The QB showcased his prowess with the ball as he helped the Commodores establish a commanding touch over Alabama with their offense. Pavia completed 16-of-the-20 passes he attempted in week 6. He recorded a total of 252 passing yards and two touchdown passes to help Vanderbilt secure the historic victory.

Both of Pavia's touchdown passes came in the second half of the game. Despite this, Clark Lea's team had the upper hand in the game right from the start of the first quarter. After the week 6 success, Vanderbilt has tallied three wins and two losses so far this season.

The loss definitely comes as a shock to Kalen DeBoer and his team. Last week, we saw them showcase excellence against the Georgia Bulldogs. If they want to keep their playoff hopes alive, then DeBoer will have to recuperate and strategize for the upcoming games this season.
