One of the most anticipated games of the college football season was Georgia vs. Alabama, and it showed in the TV ratings. The game which ended 41-34 in the Crimson Tide's favor on Saturday night averaged 12 million viewers on ABC and ESPN's streaming platforms, according to Nielsen.

It was the most watched regular season primetime game since Alabama and Florida State played on opening weekend in 2017. TV ratings showed that the peak for the game was from 11:15 to 11:30 p.m. ET. At that point, Alabama was fending off a second-half rally by the Bulldogs.

With both teams ranked in the top five heading into the game, experts had difficulty picking a favorite. However, Alabama quickly established a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and made it look like it would be a blowout. The Crimson Tide even extended the lead to 28-0 early in the second quarter.

Georgia scored a touchdown to reduce the deficit to 21 before Alabama got a safety near the end of the first half. It was a 30-7 lead for the Crimson Tide at halftime and did not look like a game that had yet to peak in TV ratings.

In the third quarter, Georgia reduced the lead to 18 (33-15), but in the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs offense got going. They scored three unanswered touchdowns to take a 34-33 lead.

Alabama looked down and out but Jalen Milroe threw a 75-yard touchdown pass to take the lead back 41-34. TV ratings peaked when Georgia attempted its final drive, but Carson Beck threw an interception in the end zone.

Travis Hunter and Colorado rank high in TV ratings

Travis Hunter and the Colorado Buffaloes had a big jump in ratings last week in their matchup against UCF. The Buffaloes won the game 48-21 and many people tuned in to watch Hunter have a standout performance.

He started the game with an excellent catch in the end zone to give Colorado the lead. Throughout the game, Hunter would go on to make several highlight reel catches which resulted in nine receptions for 89 yards.

However, Hunter's standout moment of the night came on defense in the third quarter when he made a diving interception then ran down the field and posed like the Heisman Trophy. In Week 5, an average of 4.17 million viewers tuned in to watch Hunter and the Buffaloes.
