CFB fans call Auburn HC Hugh Freeze a “sore loser” following bold Nick Saban comment

College football fans say Auburn Tigers coach Hugh Freeze is a sore loser after his recent comments about former Alabama coach Nick Saban. Freeze and Saban have had a rivalry as coaches, and the Auburn coach believes he should have four wins against Saban.

Freeze claims Ole Miss should've beaten Alabama in 2016 when the Rebels jumped out to a 24-3 lead in the second quarter, but Ole Miss lost 48-43. Freeze then pointed to last season's game between Auburn and Alabama when Jalen Milroe threw a touchdown pass to Isaiah Bond on 4th-and-goal from the 31-yard line to stun the Tigers.

"Nick is incredible, but I should have four wins against him," Freeze said on ESPN's Marty Smith on the Marty & McGee show. "I may not have phrased that exactly (right), I don't want everybody... but we easily could have beat him a few more times."

Following Freeze's comments, the college football world reacted to the news and blasted the coach for his take.

"“Should have”? “If if and buts were candy and nuts it would be Christmas year around” said a wise old man," a fan wrote.
"He shouldn't have any wins over Saban. In fact he wouldn't be at Auburn now except for his 2 wins over Alabama and Nick Saban," another fan added.

Fans think Freeze is even lucky he beat Saban twice in his career anyway.

"What a sore loser," another fan wrote.
""Should have four wins." Learning that Aubun mentality real quick," another fan added.

Many fans didn't agree with Freeze and had a good laugh at his would've, could've, should've comments.

"The most auburn statement of all time," another fan wrote.
"Keep focusing on the past, aubs," a fan wrote.

Freeze has just two wins against Saban in his career; he is 2-4 in six games.

Hugh Freeze says there is "excitement" about Auburn in 2024

The Auburn Tigers enter 2024 after going 6-7 and losing in the Music City Bowl to Maryland.

Despite the losing season, Freeze says there is excitement in the building with what Auburn is building.

"There's a great excitement in our building right now. I think it's a combination of things. One, I think our players sense that there is a chemistry among our staff that's pretty special right now, I feel, that provides a confidence and an energy to our players and the way they go about chasing the standards that we've set for each other," Freeze said at SEC Media Days, via SECSports.com.
"Secondly, I think we've upgraded our roster. Now a lot of that roster is young kids. Certainly can't predict exactly how they'll adapt to playing in this difficult conference."

The Tigers will open its 2024 college football season at home on Aug. 31 against Alabama A&M. Freeze and Auburn begin their college football season with five straight home games, and their first road game is on Oct. 1 against Georgia.
